CHARACTER
CHARACTER NAME:Thor
SERIES:Stargate SG-1
CANON POINT: After the Asgard realise they are not going to be able to cure themselves, after the Ori ships have arrived in the Milky Way.
LOSS: I have chosen to have Thor loose his memories of the war with the replicators, this would leave Thor unable to remember why he likes the Tau’ri so much, why the Goa'uld were allowed to gain so much strength in the milky way and what has kept the Asgard so busy that they were unable to cure themselves.

ABOUT THE CHARACTER: Thor is an important member of the Asgard High council and the Supreme commander of the Asgard Fleet. Being an Asgard, Thor's mind is too 'superior' to think up or fully comprehend ideas that use archaic methods, this has led Thor to relying on the seemingly lesser minds of the Tau’ri several times (Using the Jack O’Neill prototype to lure the replicators away from the Asgard home world, simple projectile weaponry to destroy Replicator bugs, destroying the deceleration drive on Thor's chariot in order to burn up the ship on entry into Earth's atmosphere, for example.), which has given him a strong connection to the Tau’ri, SGC and particularly the members of SG-1 who supplied most of the 'dumb ideas' and it's old leader Jack O'Neill who took steps to rescue Thor from Anubis despite the extreme danger posed to himself.

Thor is not able to comprehend humour or sarcasm on the levels that humans use to begin with, this shows when he is faced with the deadpan sarcasm of Jack O’Neill and often responds as though the question was not rhetoric or the statement made in all seriousness. ####

The Asgard clones currently acting as vessels for all of the living Asgard consciousnesses were created without gender, although this has been the case for thousands of years it is still an obvious sore spot for many of the Asgard including Thor, shown by his refusal to speak about such issues with other species when Jack broached the topic.

Thor's vast knowledge and intellect and experience has left him seeming slightly arrogant, especially when dealing with the Goa'uld, as seen when he is captured by Anubis' minions after underestimating the chances of the Goa'uld advancing their technology. It is clear that Thor does not mean to be arrogant, just impatient, taking members of SG-1 onto his ship with little to no warning, taking their equipment from the SGC and launching into Hyperspace before even beginning to explain his purpose or towing the Prometheus to Earth and then right out of the Milky Way while waiting for Jack to decide if he is even going to help.

Thor is a very serious character, living his life day to day to find more effective ways to destroy the enemies of the Asgard, especially a way to permanently destroy the Replicators, while battling the ever more serious issue of the genetic downfall of his race that eventually leads the entire Asgard race to destroying themselves, while still trying to help his Tau’ri friends when their life is in peril (Arranging ).

ABILITIES: [Thor's abilities lie entirely in his mind, capable of reading several languages, we see him reading Asgard, Goa'uld, Ancient, English and seeing how the Asgard are one of the three races it stands to reason that can read the language of the Furlings and the Nox as easily as Ancient.
Thor's superior brain power was made evident when he was captured by Anubis and managed to take control of the ship and transfer his consciousness into the ship through the device designed to steal knowledge directly from his mind
Thor is also very effective with technology; he was involved in the production of the Jack O’Neill class prototype ship. He was also able to leave a full working instruction of an Asgard ship, while injured in order to aid the Tau’ri when his ship was heading directly for Earth, produced Thor’s Hammer on Cimmeria, capable of scanning for symbiots (identifying the host) and transporting the host or Jaffa to a proving ground of sorts.
Thor is also capable of identifying and using the technology of several other races, shown to be able to identify how and why Ancient technology works during the later stages of the war against the Replicators. He can understand and use Goa’uld technology shown in almost all encounters with them. ]

THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE: 250 WORDS MINIMUM.

[As it dropped out of hyperspace, Thor took one look at the replicator ship and knew that this was not going to end well. The Replicator ship powered it's weapons, but Thor was ready and the shield was already engaged. The first blast was absorbed by the shield, the control stone was moved and the Asgard weapons returned fire.]

This is not possible. The Replicators have upgraded their shields.

[As the beam dispersed the scans revealed what Thor had feared, the Replicator shields had held strong against the fire. He's here now and knows that he has to fight this one through, there's no where to run that the Replicators wont just follow. Stone moved, white light screams past the displays as the Asgard ship fires again. The Replicator ship fires twice while the second Asgard beam weapon is still engaged, as the Asgard weapon stops firing for the second time the next Replicator blast takes out the Asgard shield. Another connection, this time with the Hull of the ship, a breach, and the Replicator ship jumps back into hyperspace as the shields finally fail]

There are Replicators on board, they must not take control of this ship.

[Thor looks at the ships' censors, it may not show where the Replicators are now but it will show where they got through the hull. Repositioning the stone again he warned his crew of the immediate danger and changed course for a nearby habitable planet.]

There are Replicators on the Biliskner, Emergency procedure initiated.

[As the shield comes back online the view changed as the Biliskner jumped into Hyperspace; the trip was short and the planet came straight into view as they dropped out. Moving the stones again, Thor watched as all of the life-signs disappeared from the ships sensors. His crew safe on the planet below Thor steered the ship out of orbit and into the dead of space. A small warning shows Thor that the Replicators have started to access the ships computer, Thor had to act quickly. In just a few minutes Thor had sabotaged the outbound transporters and lost navigational control, getting injured in the process. Now that the ship was headed for Earth and his new Tau'ri friends he needed a backup plan in case all else failed. Placing the stone back on the control panel Thor began his recording.]

Colonel jack O'Neill.
I have made these recordings for you in the event that I am dead...

FIRST-PERSON JOURNAL SAMPLE:
Private Log – Thor - First Entry: I have been brought to a strange world using a technology I have not previously seen. This world seems to be primarily covered by one giant building that the other species I have encountered here have called ‘the castle’. I have learned that the others here were also brought here without knowing how or why. The primitive species have claimed the castle is magic; this seems unlikely. From the species I have seen so far I have come to the conclusion that we have all been brought here to be studied. I have not yet found any device to explain how we were all brought here or who by. I have decided to use this primitive technology to log my findings, the others have called it ‘the journal’ End Entry

INTENT: [ BONUS QUESTION. What draws you to play this particular character? Ideally, what would you like to do with the character in Paradisa? There is no wrong answer, and no penalty if you don't have one; we're simply curious.]
